Notice

Dear Flyous users,

I have an announcement to make. From today, Flyous will be on hiatus, and therefore will not be making any updates for the future.

I thank you for the encouragement for keeping this project afloat. Due to other life commitments, I do not want to disregard the quality of this site just for the sake of keeping the site up since the latest AirAsia update.

Flyous is my personal project and very dear to me. I apologize that I cannot contribute any more to you.

It was nice to hear from you, some even from Australia. Thanks for spreading the word about Flyous around. If you would like to keep in touch, you can always follow me at twitter @flyous.

Till then, keep flying!

No flights

AirAsia has just updated their site, apparently with codes to make crawling slightly harder.

We knew it would eventually come to this day but we'll see what we can do to get this fixed.

Thanks for your patience, we'll keep you updated.

Official release of Delivering Happiness

Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose (http://www.deliveringhappinessbook.com) breaks the stereotype that a person, who was brought up in an environment where future is so laid in stones, could come out and do wonders.

Delivering Happiness does not tell you how to emulate his success and it appears at first glance to be an autobiography of Tony Hsiesh. Instead, this books take you into an in-depth story on how Tony's journey got him at Zappos. This book works great as a source of inspiration.

His story will eventually lead to how Zappos.com got its core values. And if you think life you are unable to be inspired by the everyday things around you, check out how a rave crowd inspired Tony. Delivering Happiness tells that success comes with sacrifice, hardship, believe, friendship, happiness and a sense of purpose.

If putting a dent to the universe is your kind of thing, this book is definitely a booster for you.

Big Sale (Update 2)

*Updates - 10:40PM* Latest list of crawled routes

------------------------------------------------------------------

*Updates: all available BIG BANG SALES routes in one page*

*Updates* I am unable to update this listing as frequently as I would like it to be because AirAsia server is very slow at the moment. This list serves well as a reference of what tickets are available at the time of search. If you don't see the price anymore at AirAsia, sorry to say, it means that that ticket price has already sold out.

*Updates* We are moving at a very slow pace. If there's a flight route that you urgently need, please request via the comment feature. Thanks.

Main Server

Test server

Gold Coast - http://bigbangsale.flyous.com/flights/cheapest/KUL/OOL

----------------------------------------------------

AA server is really really really slow at the moment. At the mean time, you can use the data that was performed on the test server.

Only the following links are working, other routes are unavailable. Please use the following links:

Gold Coast - http://bigbangsale.flyous.com/flights/cheapest/KUL/OOL

Big Sale (Update)

If you followed me on twitter, this morning there was some server error causing the Big Bang Sales flight not to be loaded.

We ran a few ad hoc crawls, and found that an average search might take up to 40 minutes. We'll be running the crawl manually today and will try to cover most of the major and popular routes.

Yesterday's data showed that the most popular ones are Taiwan, Tianjin and Guangzhou. We will try to get this data up and will post immediately on Twitter for the updates.

More updates to follow. Follow flyous on twitter.

Big Sale

I guess everyone one of you are eagerly waiting for the Big Sale by AirAsia next week. So am I. We can expect the traffic to AirAsia site to be crawling really slowly, and may impact the results on Flyous. Please bear with us if you notice anything abnormal next week, and drop us a comment . We will try to fix it. Rest assured we will be around tweaking our settings to ensure that you will be able to use Flyous smoothly.

Delivering Happiness

I got an InfoNotice from UPS at the door of my apartment on the 20th April 2010. The package states that this comes from the USA. I traced the package at UPS site and saw that the package was from Las Vegas and it took only 1 week to get here. Surely, I thought, it must be an important package.

The next day I called UPS about the package. A polite lady answered my call and said that the package will be sent again to my apartment in the evening. So I asked her if they could send it to my office instead, and they said yes, so I gave her the address. Lastly I asked if her if she could tell who it was from, they said it was from Zappos.com. So I think to myself, it can't be.

I really wanted the book Delivering Happiness, and I couldn't wait till the book launch on 7th June 2010. So I tried to sign up for a free book as a blogger.

When the package arrived that afternoon, I got not one Delivering Happiness but two for FREE!

AirAsia adapts product to long-haul

AirAsia's longer-haul brand is adding premium seating to accommodate those longer hours.
The KL-based AirAsia x is going two-class with the installation of premium flat beds in its A330s and A340.

The move recognises that not every traveller wants to do long-haul in economy seating, even if the pitch and recline are a bit more generous than on short-haul.

New flatbed seats for AirAsia X flights

PETALING JAYA: Passengers on long-haul AirAsia X flights can now enjoy greater comfort with the introduction of flatbed seats, making it the first low-cost carrier to offer such luxury.

AirAsia X chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani said the airline admitted that the old seats on its airplanes were “neither suitable nor comfortable for long-haul flights.”

Air Asia still awaiting OK for Sydney-KL

Low-cost carrier Air Asia says it remains committed to starting services between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur on July 1 this year, despite a "frustrating" wait for Malaysian government approval.

Air Asia says everything is in place to make Sydney the Malaysian-based carrier's fourth Australian destination, following Perth, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

All that is needed was for the Malaysian government to give the green light.

Take the Air Asia skybus from LCCT airport to downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

If you fly from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on Air Asia, you'll find yourself landing at Kuala Lumpur's Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). Air Asia also flies into Kuala Lumpur from most other major airports in south east Asia.

Once at LCCT passengers have to figure out the best and cheapest way to get to KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur itself, as LCCT is an hour away from the city. That's where the Air Asia Skybus comes in.

AirAsia X will add flights to Melbourne and Perth

SEPANG: AirAsia X will operate flights to Melbourne and Perth, with three more Airbus A330 aircraft coming in, as securing routes to Seoul and Sydney is a challenge.

Boutique Guesthouse in KL

Boutique guesthouse has sparked my interest as of lately and we will be featuring some of the boutique guesthouse around Kuala Lumpur in this few coming post.

Sekeping Tenggiri ("A piece of Mackarel") is a boutique guesthouse in KL. Renown landscape architect Ng Sek San converted two houses at 46-48 Jalan Tenggiri in Bangsar.

Price ranges from MYR 200 to MYR 250, which is pretty decent in our opinion.

Early prototype of Flyous

An early prototype of Flyous. We initially wanted to provide flights only from Kuala Lumpur. You can see that the main page does not scale well as we add more flights.

Our flight listing was rather plain and lacks emphasis at important informations.

That's all we have for now folks!

New flight routes going forward

Dear Flyous users,
We are looking to add more flight routes. If there's any flight routes you would like, or flights from a certain country not supported yet, do give us a shout and let us know.

If you have any comments or feedbacks, we are always happy to hear from you.

Going up for a while

With the new AirAsia site, we needed some minor tweak (for now) to get it to work and also some modification to the crawler. We should have done more testing, but due to the promotion by AirAsia we thought that Flyous is in a state sufficient enough to be released for usage. Leave any problems or bugs you notice in the comment, thanks :)

We have been experimenting the addition of Australia and Singapore for the past few months, and it is now available for preview. We are working on a disk space and bandwidth constrain environment but we are very happy with it. We made use of some of the hosting feature to get this to work, so please bear with us on any hiccups.

We may be taking it down after the promotion to ensure that everything is working properly, so do enjoy Flyous!

P.S.: Flyous is pronounce fly·ous, just like joy·ous. Hope that would clear some confusion on the pronunciation.

Down but not gone.

Fellow loyal users,

If you haven't heard or notice, AirAsia has just updated their site. So there is some work that needs to be done and Flyous will be down for a while.

We promise to be back as soon as we can.

At the mean time, you can follow us on Twitter to get the fastest updates.

Thanks.
Flyous Team.
